Abstract

One of the most popular methods for determining reference evapotranspiration is by evaporation pan because of its easy application. The traditional Class A pan occupies a considerable area, so alternative solutions are sought. The use of a reduced pan is appropriate for greenhouse cultivation because of the smaller area occupied. A two-year experiment was conducted in a greenhouse in the period 2017-2018. The values of the reference evapotranspiration obtained by measuring the evaporation with a Class A pan and a reduced pan with a diameter of 60.35 cm were compared. Using regression analysis, a strong relationship (R2 = 0.92) between the compared values was obtained. The results show that a reduced size evaporator can be used to plan irrigation in a greenhouse.
