Abstract

Abstract: There are hundreds of investigations and publications, intended to demonstrate the strong dependence between the project manager’s competencies and the project success. On their base there are developed many competence models and professional standards, used for assessment of competencies and training in the field of project management. But unfortunately they suffer from inherent conceptual ambiguities and shortcomings. In this context the present paper tries to examine the project manager’s competencies as an object of theoretical and empirical research, as underlines mostly the problems, connected with the competencies and the professional standards in project management.

Keywords: competence, competence model, project, project manager
