Abstract

This study explores the relationship between authentic leadership and employees’ innovative behavior in the Bulgarian business context. Data were collected from 255 respondents, measuring seven components of authentic leadership using an author-developed scale, and three components of innovative behavior: idea generation, idea promotion, and idea realization, based on the model by Janssen (2000). The results show that the strongest and statistically significant correlations exist between idea realization and the aspects of authentic leadership: self-awareness, growth mindset, reliability and integrity, empathy and human connection, empowerment, and purpose-driven orientation. No statistically significant correlations were found for the other two phases of innovative behavior. The study highlights the critical role of authentic leadership in supporting innovation within organizations and offers guidelines for its practical implementation.
