Commodity exchanges expand economic opportunity by stimulating overall growth, building assets, increasing returns on those assets through market action. The utility of a commodity exchange for economic growth also lies in its institutional capacity to eliminate or reduce the high transaction costs faced by actors in commodity supply chains.
