Abstract


Patient rights are part of human rights. Establishing clearly defined patient rights helps standardize care across all areas of healthcare and allows patients to have the same expectations during treatment. Modern patient rights laws establish that people have a right to medical care and certain treatment regardless of their socioeconomic status, religion, gender, or ethnicity.
