MEMORY AND FORGETFULNESS
Abstract
Memory and forgetfulness are special categories of social phenomena. They form both cultures and conditions for the rise and fall of peoples and civilizations. The binary opposition between memory and oblivion is a breeding ground for the evolutionary development of philosophical thought from antiquity to the era of postmodern globalization. The attitude of individual peoples towards memory and oblivion often determines not only their place in history, but also positions them in the hierarchical map of the world.
This article examines the categories of memory and oblivion through cultural-anthropological and ethnocultural discourse.
