Andon Shalamanov

Abstract

The specific challenges facing European regions with specific territorial characteristics constitute a strategic element of the debate on the future of cohesion policy and the coordination of sectoral policies. The establishment of territories with specific characteristics constitutes a common tool for the spatial distribution of policies and programs aimed at achieving the desired objectives.

Burgas Region and its territorial planning policy should be considered as part of the development of the Black Sea region. Burgas Region is an element of the cross-border space, which traditionally enjoys good cross-border relations in the field of economic cooperation and tourism.

The aim of the study is, in the context of broader cross-border development, to analyze the territorial planning policy of the largest region in Bulgaria, Burgas Region, focusing on the territorial planning policy of the Burgas Municipality, as the most important for the region.
