THE ROLE OF THE NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT BANKS

Abstract


The paper deals witht the role of national development banks (NDB) in the contemporary stage. The conceptions of the nature of development banks are analyzed consistently. A special place is given to their specific form of ownership and management. Emphasis is placed on the peculiarities of the financial instruments used by these banks. Groups of financial and non-financial instruments are also distinguished. The World Bank's role in financing investment prioritized in industry, agriculture and the services sector is highlighted, based on data from the German Development Bank, the Chinese Development Bank, the Brazilian Development Bank, the Japan Development Bank. India, etc. Data on the largest projects funded by these banks are provided.
