The article presents an analysis of the normative and strategic documents at national level in the Republic of Bulgaria, which regulate and define the framework for development of the higher education institutions in Bulgaria and the system of their financing. The conclusions drawn concern the state of the higher education system in Bulgaria in relation to the contemporary requirements for achieving competitiveness and efficiency of the expended funds.References
