KNOWLEDGE-BASED ECONOMY – A KEY FACTOR TO NEW SUSTAINABLE SOCIAL MARKET ECONOMY

Abstract

World in XXI century is moving to a new civilization having one leading characteristics – knowledge. Knowledge turned into a main production resource and a critical factor for enterprises and states. Emergence and development of knowledge-based economy is determined as the third economic revolution in human history. It is based on production, distribution and use of knowledge and its infrastructure is world information network.

The paper focuses on the manifestation of knowledge-based economy on the organizational level as a key factor to development of new sustainable social market economy. The EU goals are described reflecting the priorities of Europe 2020 for intelligent, sustainable and inclusive growth – problems without an alternative in connection to their solutions for Bulgaria too.
