WHY FRENCH WINE IS THREATENED WITH EXTINCTION?

Magdalena Sokolova

Abstract

The aim of the present scientific work is to highlight and demonstrate the threats to the French wine and wine production. It explores the traditions, the methods of making wine, and, as a counterpoint, why France is increasingly ceding the leading position. The scientific work traces back as far as possible in time the autochthonous and inbound wines that the French successfully compiled.

The following academic work examines the hierarchical structure of wine producers and their organisations. It studies the specific characteristics of the wine production traditions, but how the names of the wines were given and specific aspects of wine labelling as well. Correlation between wine making, traditions, ideology, and art have been outlined.

The key place of wine production for the French economy has been defined. In this context - clusters in France, transport and logistics, the specific characteristics of each wine production area had been analysed. A comparative analysis is carried out between France and Bulgaria in terms of wine production.

The main tendencies, problems and prospects which France faces are outlined as a wine producer in the world top 3. Recommendations and solutions are given to the main challenges outlined above, based on historical traditions and geographical characteristics of different regions.

The necessity of the present scientific work is important and its aim is to help the users first to become acquainted with the quality of French wines, the problems encountered by the producers and the perspectives for development. The strong points of competition in the market and the mechanisms through which France can overtake the competition and take the lead in the wine market are described as well.
